Singapore Sweets

My kick ass mum went to Singapore for a girly shopping weekend with one of her mates from back in Scotland, she had a great time drinking, eating and shopping. She was kind enough to bring me back a couple of surprises from H&M (oh how I do miss you H&M) and China Town. Both presents featuring one of my top colours turquoise blue, see my pressies below. I CANT WAIT TO WEAR THEM. Thanks mum xx

The Coral Colour Trend

In Spring 2013 the vivid colour Coral made a punch on the runway, becoming one of the seasons most playful and flirty colours. It was featured on Carolina Herrera and Diane Von Furstenberg

PINK - 1st way to wear the new colour trend - EMBELLISHED

Evident on the SS14 Catwalks the trend to jump ahead of time of is PINK. To avoid over feminising and over pinking add embellishments or over sized jewels to break up the colour tone, as seen in Burberrys SS14 Catwalk show below, featuring killer super model Cara Delevingne.

Burberry Prorsum SS14 Collection featuring pastel tones, feminine shaped and extreme embellishing.

According to Kate Smith from Sensational Colour

"Brighter pinks are youthful, fun, and exciting, while vibrant pinks have the same high energy as red; they are sensual and passionate without being too aggressive. Toning down the passion of red with the purity of white results in the softer pinks that are associated with romance and the blush of a young woman’s cheeks. It’s not surprising that when giving or receiving flowers, pink blossoms are a favourite."

To reduce associations to romance and to contrast the femininity with this print i chose a piece with neck beading and detailing, see picture my new item bellow, photos of me wearing my new pink punch will be up soon.

More than just plain tights

In November 2012 The Telegraph wrote an article called "Lift yourself out of a tights spot: our review of the best tights".
This review highlighted the importance that tights could make or break an outfit including coloured, grey, patterned, textured, move away from the obvious and leap on to another opportunity to accessorise your outfit the way you want.

" I will wear tights even if it's 100 degrees outside. Tights are my safety blanket." Zooey Deschanel.

Here are my favourite patterned tight in my collection, monochrome sheer spots, a pair which sadly didn't last very long as i destroyed them going onto onto a Ferris wheel, bought from Topshop they are cheep, simple and brighten up every outfit.

Betty Tran Review - PFF Designer Capsule 2013

Betty Tran was the most anticipated designer on the catwalk during PFF designer Capsule 2013, and did not disappoint with her edgy twist on the classic female silhouette. The loud modern clashing music contrasted the femininity of the designs reinforcing the designers inspiration from the strength the passion and love portrayed through the modern woman.  With two central colour schemes of cherry red and metallic blue the catwalk featured varying textiles with a focus on elegant lacing. Classic shapes, fun colours, and over sized jewelry it was a collection any woman would kill to wear and was suitable for a variety of ages. Models wore the collection with messy buns and Gothic lace veils adding an almost French elegance to the collection. Towards  the end of the show work wear progressed into eye catching floor length gowns however followed the same colour scheme and classic elegance of the rest of the collection. The video bellow shows the final walk from Betty Trans exhibition at PFF Designer Capsule 2013.

“I'm tough, I'm ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay.” Madonna
Key Trends evident on Betty Tran's Runway: Metallic, over sized jewelry, high buns, Gothic, elegance, lace and tailoring.

Steph Audio Review - PFF Designer Capsule 2013

Known for their classic and modern silhouettes Steph Audio divulged their iconic theme with their PFF SS13 runway collection featuring a chic and romantic spin on female apparel.  A carefully designed juxtaposition was clearly visible as gorgeous models continued their walk across the room. Flowers, nature and a state of intense bliss was strikingly contrasted with an eerie Gothic charm with dark eyeshadow and dark ruffles and layers.
I eagerly await their new website launch to get an even deeper understanding of the brand and the collections that they have on offer.

Other features of Steph Audios' SS13 collection include:
         - Chiffon Overlay
         - Black Jewelled belts
         - Peplum
         - Black Lace details
         - Gothic makeup and bobbled hair
         - Over sized floral accessories.

In mean time I have satisfied my Steph Audio addiction by following their facebook profile, follow them now!

Wild Horses Review - PFF Designer Capsule 2013

Natalie Donovan the designer behind the edgy and forever evolving women's fashion and accessories label Wild Horses. With a motto of:
"Escape the herd" (Donovan 2012)

This was effortlessly achieved with powerful statements continuously making their appearance down the runway. Inspired by simple structural elegance, Wild Horses SS14 collection is for wearers who aim to make an effortless splash. The collection focuses on shiny metallic aesthetics, with pretty pastel colours contrasted with sharp silver striking pieces. Other trends that Donovan grasped was exposed midriffs, black white & blue opal patterns, cropped outerwear and over sized metallic clutches. It was a surprising and memorable show highlighting the ethos behind the growing brand.

Favourite from the collection was the cropped short sleeve silver biker jacket a versatile piece that would transform any outfit. I would wear this with Neon Orange shirt and Daisy print skinny Jeans, how would you wear yours?
